Who else saw the shocking and disgusting news that Maggie Thatcher is getting a State Funeral? £3million of taxpayers money down the loo. How many average working people or even pensioners could benefit from that money. Maggie Thatcher did so much damage to this country, selling off our silver so the rich could get richer and closing nearly all the mines and dockyards. Why not have a private gathering of friends and family? Instead Gordon Brown tries pathetically hard to win over Right-Winged Tory voters so that he will not lose the next General Election. Her legacy divided the country further with the rich on 1 side and the poor on the other. Not only that, she went to war to feed her own rich ego. She didn't only split the rich and poor, she split the opinion of the nation on everything.
A state funeral is an insult to the workers of our country, who she treated with contempt during her regime. Why is this political point scoring occasion deemed appropriate when the NHS is strapped for cash and people are living in pure poverty? What about our soldiers who are killed fighting in unnecessary wars in Iraq and Afghanistan? They have more right to a state funeral than she does by a long, long way.
Britain is in the clutches of a economic recession and Gordon Brown wants Alistair Darling to find £3million to fund her funeral? Scotland and the rest of the UK should stand up to this atrocity and say no.
